Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipGUEST: My mom told me she wouldn't be worth anything and I shouldn't bring her, but I wanted to just because I've always wondered what she's worth.
GUEST: I brought my American Girl Molly doll.
I actually got her from the warehouse sale at the Pleasant Company in Middleton, Wisconsin.
Paid $50 for her because of the sale.
APPRAISER: I would estimate her value at about $1,200 to $1,500.
GUEST: Oh my gosh, that's amazing.
I'm so glad that I never took her hair out and played with her.
And thanks, Mom, for taking me to the warehouse sale.
GUEST: It was worth $1,200 to $2,000.
And I'm blown away.
I guess it was worth it, Mom.
I learned that she's basically the first edition of this doll, and that she's just really special because she's made with a higher quality that they were making at the time.
She was made in Germany and shipped to Wisconsin, which is how I got her at the sale.
While I love Molly, my favorite was Felicity because her era was the Revolutionary War, and that's just something I've always been fascinated by.
But I loved Molly, too.
I have a whole collection of them, and I've kept them in a cool space lying face down to protect the eyes and the hair and everything.
And I'm probably just going to keep doing the same.
So, I'm just going to keep taking really good care of her.
and maybe take her out to show people um from time to time.
Show her off a little.
